Answering the Ancestral Call, Nurturing the Heritage of Generations to Come

Brighter Tomorrow Foundation was born from a unique alignment of destinies. Two lifelong friends, bound by shared ancestral roots in West Nusa Tenggara, came together to realize a shared vision: Djafar (Papang) carries Sumbawan heritage, while Lalu Rois Amri Radhiani (Aam) is of Sasak descent from Lombok. Born in the same month and year, just days apart, their friendship has stood the test of time for over a quarter of a century. Their professional paths first converged in 1999 at the Indonesian Independent Film Foundation (YMMFI)—the organization that birthed the Jakarta International Film Festival (JiFFest), Southeast Asia's premier film festival at the time, and Indonesian Documentaries (In-Docs), which launched initiatives such as the Eagle Awards and Docs by the Sea.

Papang and Aam combine two distinct yet complementary spheres of expertise:

Djafar (Papang)

Alumnus of Transportation Management, Trisakti School of Transportation Management (STMT Trisakti). Papang’s academic background equipped him with deep expertise in supply chain management, distribution logistics, regulatory licensing, import-export compliance, and customs operations. His corporate career accelerated when he joined Blitz Megaplex (prior to its acquisition by CGV) as Distribution Manager in 2007, alongside serving as a distribution consultant for leading domestic and international film production houses. Post-pandemic, Papang relocated to Mataram to produce short films and documentaries while actively mentoring local film communities across West Nusa Tenggara.

Lalu Rois Amri Radhiani (Aam)

Alumnus of TV/Radio Broadcasting, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) and Film Studies, Jakarta Institute of the Arts (IKJ). Having served as Co-Executive Director of YMMFI / Co-Director of JiFFest (2007–2011), Aam subsequently dedicated years to advising government institutions on national film policy and promoting Indonesian filming locations and cinema across more than 25 countries. His leadership track record includes serving as Executive Secretary of the Indonesian Film Board (2014–2017) and Head of Location Promotion (2017–2022). Upon Papang’s recommendation in 2017, Aam was appointed Country Representative for Beijing Weying Technology, an entity backed by tech and entertainment giants Tencent, Wanda Cinema, and China Media Capital. Post-pandemic, Aam serves as Chairman of Semesta Daya Mada (Salaka Credu) in Yogyakarta, focusing on arts and cultural entrepreneurship.

After extensive careers spanning multinational corporations, government agencies, and strategic organizations, Papang and Aam are joining forces once again. Answering their ancestors' call to return home, they are dedicated to uplifting local maritime potential, stepping forward alongside coastal communities to build a self-reliant, prosperous, and sustainable legacy for generations to come.
